Though there was an onsite chapel at the venue, Bláthnaid and Dáire decided to use that area as a backup in case of bad weather.
Instead, they planned their ceremony in the property's garden, surrounded by yew trees and fountains.
The bride asked her father to build an arch for the wedding, and her sister took control of decorating it with pink cherry blossom, apple blossom, white magnolia and white thorn, cut from their parents' garden.
"It was beyond special," Bláthnaid says. "Each of my immediate family took the time to help my sister add to the blooms. I felt like I was encapsulated in an arch of love and home during the ceremony."

The Ceremony Unfolds

When Bláthnaid made her way from the front door of the house down to the garden for the ceremony, she was overcome with emotion.
"It was a long walk down to Dáire, but I took the time to try and soak it all up in slow motion keeping my eyes on Dáire," she says.
​
The couple carefully chose poetry, prose, and a traditional Irish blessing to be read during the ceremony.
They also decided to perform a Celtic hand-fasting ceremony; both sets of parents and the bride's grandmother placed ribbons over the couple's clasped hands. "Many say that this is where the term 'tying the knot' originates!" Bláthnaid explains.

Every so often a real wedding comes along that we wish we'd been guests at, and Emma and Orlagh's laid-back wedding at Clonabreany House is one such bash!

The gorgeous pair planned a celebration that was all about showing their friends and family a great day out. Not only did they wine and dine their guests - and treat them to a fire show, an epic dance party, and a 5am sing-along - but you can literally feel the love in this one too.

For Emma and Orlagh, the ceremony was the highlight of their day, “Romy, our celebrant, was brilliant and really tugged at the heartstrings. Our four nieces delivered special readings which was lovely.
It sounds obvious but don’t overlook it. It’s not the boring part…the small details like music, readings, and vows. It was actually my favourite part of the day.”
The couple had a clear vision of the feel they wanted for their wedding day..

“It was important to me that the day be focused on love, family, friendship, kindness and unity,” Laney explains. "Dave and I have a love that goes beyond words and that same love extends to our immediate friends and family.

Originally, we thought about eloping but it quickly became important to us to say our vows and profess our love for each other in front of our closest family and friends.
Anything beyond that was really secondary.”

The ceremony was a key part of the day for the bride and groom. “Standing under the wisteria trees, in a beautiful garden in front of a grand ivy covered home is a memory edged in my mind that I will treasure forever.
Romy was an excellent celebrant. She helped us create the perfect ceremony, tailored exactly to us and our values. She surprised us by including details that we wrote about one another two years prior.”

The couple made sure their guests were included in the ceremony too. “With the hand fasting ceremony, a warming of the rings to remind everyone that their love and support is what brought us to that day, we wrote and recited our own vows, and we signed a wedding certificate as an entire family. I don’t know if this is a typical Irish tradition but something so simple really stood out to me. As we all signed the certificate it signified for me, two families uniting and becoming one. It was so special and meaningful to me that I now recommend it to everyone I know who is planning a wedding.”

Bimal and Truett first found each other back in December of 2018... the purely modern way of finding each other - on a dating app. They both knew right away that there was a connection, and subsequently a meeting (first date) was planned. Both said that there was never a dull moment right from the very start - conversation flowed and they just talked and talked. Bimal saying "I think seeing his personality and thoughfulness just sealed the deal for me".
Truett, being as Bimal describes as an A-type personality, was very much more blatant - he thought Bimal was gorgeous!
Their relationship summed up by Truett as; "From the very moment we met, it was if our souls were destined to be together".
Traditional Indian folk dancers started things off. The grooms each arrived on horse surrounded by yet more Indian dancers. “It was magical with the castle in the backdrop! Imagine a Bollywood movie set at a historic Irish castle!”
(Romy McAuley) the registered solemnizer officiated while Marette, the ‘swiper’ who gave reason for all 100 guests to gather in July this year, served as Truett’s maid of honor.
The two exchanged flower garlands (Varmala) and had a Celtic handfasting ceremony, binding them together for a long life together. “There was nowhere we would have rather been.”

A truely multi-faith wedding ceremony, Bimal and Truett's vision of encompassing both of their heritages, cultures, traditions and loves into this amazing wedding.
Rituals included; Indian Varmala, a Blessing from both mothers, Celtic Hand-Fasting, Personal Vows, Ring exchange and legal declarations

“We decided on a (multi-faith) ceremony. It was intimate and very personal. It was full of happiness and love from all our friends and family. Our celebrant Romy from A Beautiful Ceremony did such an amazing job! There were plenty of tears and laughter. We had a fasting ceremony using material Natasha’s nan had crochet before she passed away last year that our kids tied along with our unity candles. Our ceremony was focused on bringing the 4 of us together so we each had a colour of sand and blended all 4 colours during our sand ceremony. Everyone was so happy for us and I think Ian’s photos show that. We had our neighbour Gerry sing and play for our ceremony and it was just perfect.”

From the moment we met her on Zoom, she was just a breath of fresh air who put me at ease during a very uncertain and anxious time. The ceremony itself was just beautiful! Romy has a way of obtaining lots of great info out of the bride and groom beforehand which she uses so cleverly on the day. Lots of our guests thought she knew us personally! With the smaller guest numbers, it was so intimate and every word could be heard, emotions were high and there wasn’t a dry eye in the room!”
